Need CB help

What is the best way to mount a really good CB antenna on my coach. I think the factory one is a joke.

RE: CC Veranda 400 140 lbs carry weight

This is a case of buyer beware! When we buy we should look at axle loading and CCC, then maybe the manufacturer will design/sell the right thing. What they get away with is bad! When we purchased we had a CCC/axle loading stipulations (put there because of what we learned at this site) in our order/agreement which was to be proved by the dealer obtaining axle weights on a certified scale. The dealer and factory had many discussions of the guarantee we demanded/had written in the proposed agreement before it was accepted by them. This sort of "buyer pressure" will result in designs that are correct/with in the law. The laws are just there so they can tax you with a ticket.

RE: CC Veranda 400 140 lbs carry weight

I have to mention this: Max weight on a steer axle is 12,000lbs. 20K for a single drive, 34K for a set of tandems, 12K for a steer axle. Your wrong, 23580 is max front axle weight. It has alot to do with tire size.

RE: Martinsville speedway RV parking

We stayed there and they could not put us in the space because of how un level it was. They had a area saved for people who had problems like me. If you can afford it the champions sectionit is the best, it over looks the track and is paved. 2000.00 including tickets and power, with a locked gate and guard. Its the place to be, and by far the best race to attend.

Anyone every stayed there and went riding on the Hatfield McCoy trails. Is it a nice place to go and stay. I would like to take the family and the four wheelers and ride the trails in the fall.

RE: Country Coach: A shadow of it's former self

CC does not keep any inventory. Like Monaco they only build when there are dealer orders, There were 13 units on the lot. Tour guide said they were awaiting dealer pickup AFTER THE DEALER HAS PAID! If I read him correctly there may be dealers who placed orders but do not have the money to pay for them. Perhaps they are unable to get floor financing???? Moisheh That is very interesting, we tried to trade for a Magna at Lazydays and they told me because of all the repo's they did not have the money to do any kind of trade. Which makes me think they have some dealer recourse on the loans. They also said they would sell me the Magna then put my coach on the lot and sell it for me. So the tour guide just might be correct.

RE: All the floorplans we like are gassers....

Winni/Itasca makes a really nice unit. Buy the coch you want and don't worry about which for of oil it burns.

RE: I have seen posts about parking with jacks down

I cannot halp but wonder if it is not hard on the hydraulic system to leave a coach parked for weeks/months with the jacks down??? Someone want to convince mr otherwise? It won't hurt anything.

RE: Brands to stay away from?

While I won't comment on brands of motor homes to stay away from I will comment on one brand of motor home filler (Appliances) GOLDSTAR, now called Lucky Goldstar, this includes the ZENITH brand. (I will except one product) The reason for this is in my life I've had contact with a lot of Goldstar stuff, Computer monitors (Thankfully never owned one but sold 'em We got most of 'em back under warranty) Zenith VCR (Before Goldstar bought 'em Zenith was a great brand) Dometic MCIROWAVE (I got it working now, had to re-design part and replace another part with a GE microwave part) Goldstar Microwave (Set the office where I worked on fire, or whould have had not someone extinguished it in time) This was due to a design fault.. I still see a few of that model about. Insignia DIGITAL TV converter (Identical to Zenith) I'm on my 2nd, the unit has a serious problem in that it locks up every week or two and I have to unplug and plug back in.. THIS said. it's still the best on the market for other reasons and thus the one exception. Seems they make good cell phones (But I'll never carry one) I say they changed the name from GOLDSTAR to LUCKY GOLDSTAR beacuse you are LUCKY if a GOLDSTAR works as it should. Oh, in fairness to Dometic.. They Re-Brand a lot of different company products.. A different model microwave might not be a Goldstar. You are spot on, every LG product I have owned is junk. But this LG cell phone has gone the distance, i can't kill it.

RE: Brands to stay away from?

I would put value in spending a very very bunch of time going over the coach you like instead of putting one brand in a box. Having said that, Alfa, Fleetwood and Tiffin, would be what I would avoid. Newmar, Country Couch, Winnabego, Foretravel are a few good ones, but that don't mean they don't have bad ones. Your best choice is to find what you like and get ready to spend some money on fixing certain items.

RE: The rest of the Dometic A/C story

Did the comprsssor seem to want to start, but them kick off and smell like an electrical short? I just ttok my rig to Monaco for the same problem. Yes, I installed the new parts myself.

RE: The rest of the Dometic A/C story

1. Dometic has phone tech service for Dealer/Techs ONLY. NO retail customer support or diagnosis although they try to help. 2. Your 2006 Tiffin should have been under the 3 year Dometic warranty. Is it older than 3 years? 3. Dometic AC units are built in Mexico by a Dometic plant. 4. The tech (You?) that diagnoised your problem obviously did not know anything about RV AC units. If you had taken the unit to a qualified Dometic service center, then your Saga would have NOT cost you any money if under warranty, unless you were in the 3rd year (labor then). 5. As others tend to do, you are blaming others for YOUR mistakes. :R

RE: Anyone bought a new Phaeton lately?

Right now dealers can't give away DPs. I'll bet you can get 40% min on the 09 if you let the dealer know you are serious but won't be ripped off. Hold out for 50% on the 08. How's the popcorn, Boomer? Yeah don't get ripped off, I forgot making a profit is a crime. :R
